Dear Friends,

Since 1958, Providence School has provided high-quality Christian education in Santa Barbara. In all those years, Providence has never owned its campus, yet has never waited for a great campus to be a great school.

For decades, Providence has thrived without a permanent home — moving from one leased campus to another — yet the mission has never wavered. Providence continues to offer a Christ-centered, liberal-arts education that shapes students to love truth, pursue beauty, and strive for excellence. For generations, families have chosen Providence as their partner in developing a common set of character traits in their children: faith, fortitude, love, integrity, humility, an appreciation for freedom and liberty, and a desire to demonstrate God’s love through service to others.

Demand for Christian education is great. Applications across every division—Preschool through Upper School—are mounting. We want to ensure families in Santa Barbara, Goleta, Montecito, Summerland, Carpinteria, the Santa Ynez Valley, and beyond have a far-reaching vision for their children’s “home away from home,” from the first day in Preschool through Senior Commencement.

Our Preschool and Lower School have stability on the San Roque campus, but our Middle School and Upper School remain in aging modular buildings on a year-to-year lease on a shared campus with The Club (formerly the Boys & Girls Club). From the school’s inception, families and leaders have prayed and planned for a lasting home where students can flourish.

Now, that moment has arrived.

Providence has the opportunity to establish a permanent campus for Grades 7–12 on Ortega Street in downtown Santa Barbara — a beautiful, thoughtfully designed, Mid-Century inspired campus home that strengthens every aspect of academic, spiritual, and student life. The land was purchased in 2022, the plans have been unanimously approved, permits are just around the corner. Now is the time to build!

As an alumnus, a current Providence mom, and chair of the Coming Home Capital Campaign, I am excited to be part of this joyful effort to raise the $24 million needed to bring this vision to life.

I invite you to consider joining us. Your generosity — at any level — helps build an enduring campus that will welcome even more students and their families to make Providence their school home now and for decades to come.

With gratitude,

Kate Perlis McKinniss
